Putting the finishing touches on the smoke project today. Have to get them to the Gallery by tomorrow morning. This project has been like a bullet train. Other projects have taken years to work on. Not this one. After 1 photo shoot, I had 6-10 photos that I liked. The second photo shoot a week later involved more experimentation, different lenses, different lighting, different camera settings but still only produced an additional 6-10 images. The third photo shoot, again 1 week later, I used a combination of the best of the best (settings, lenses etc...) from the first two shoots and produced well over 60 images. It was at this time that I contacted Robin at Sunny Side up Gallery and she told me she would love to have my smoke pictures in their gallery.
Since then the last two weeks have been spent printing and re-printing trying to get the finished print to look the way I want it to. Running all over the city picking up frames and mattes (who knew plain black or dark blue mattes could be so hard to find!). Ordering business cards and coming up with price lists for everything. The first major art walk is next week, the fun is just about to begin!
